A service of Tauranga Regional Multicultural Council (Multicultural Tauranga)
Breaking the language barrier

The Bay of Plenty Interpreting Service, BOPIS, is an initiative established in 2012 by the Tauranga Regional Multicultural Council (TRMC / Multicultural Tauranga) to meet the needs of our growing multicultural community. Unlike our other services of TRMC, BOPIS is run as a non-profit social enterprise, so fees apply.
BOPIS provides face-to-face and telephone interpreting as well as translation of documents. The BOPIS team are vetted, specially trained bi-lingual speakers. They comply with the Code of Ethics including privacy, impartiality and professional conduct. The service is managed by a dedicated part-time Coordinator who works out of our office at the Historic Village.
Our services are used, for example, by the court, the police and other government agencies, but are increasingly also requested by schools, businesses and individuals.
